Brand identity for community café
We have a long history of ethical and values-driven work. In just the last two years of our 15 years in business, we’ve helped promote cleaner air travel, build a brand around zero-emissions off-grid energy, and started a community of sustainability-focused marketing leaders.
Close to home has been our work for Mary’s Place, a free café in Newcastle city centre and a 4-minute walk from our studio. Mary’s Place offers simple food, drink, supplies, and companionship to Newcastle’s homeless and those in need. It’s run like a café for a reason, so that guests feel seen, looked after, valued, and welcome – in stark contrast to their everyday experience on the streets.
As it’s run entirely on donations and volunteer engagement, Mary’s Place needs to keep building awareness and authority if they want to increase their impact. But applying for funding, gaining recognition, and attracting more guests and volunteers was going to be hard with just a name – and no brand identity.
