Social responsibility: Action On Addiction fundraiser

July 10, 2019

We’re committed to raising awareness and fundraising for the social issues that affect so many today. Next up, our creative director John will be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon for Action on Addiction.

This is a charity that provides life-saving treatments to people in the grip of addiction. Patron HRH The Duchess of Cambridge is instrumental in helping Action on Addiction to work in partnership with other like-minded charities. All so that notions of stigma and shame around addiction and other mental health issues can be challenged.

This spectacular central London Half Marathon will take place on 13th October 2019, in some of the capital’s world-famous landmarks through four of London’s eight Royal Parks. We are looking forward to following JD’s progress in the run up (sorry) and on the day.

John says: “My PB for a half marathon is 1.34.35 at Redcar, although that was a few years when I was younger and super-fit! That said, I’m coming back into form. I’m going to have a crack at beating my personal record for this worthwhile cause.

“So with the help of you guys I hope to take my fundraising to £400 to go towards helping someone who really needs it. Small amounts please, from lots of people.”

25 JULY PROGRESS REPORT. Taking on the Durham 10K on the hottest day in the UK on record. John says: “Not my best run by any stretch of the imagination, however it was the hottest day of the year and a time of 45.23 for the hilly Durham 10K isn’t too bad. Next up it’s the Darlington 10K on 11 August – and good news, it’s on the flat.”

You’re likely to know someone who’s affected by addiction at some point. That’s why it’s good to give what you can.

To donate, it’s here.
